Modern Day “Dead Drops”
“A dead drop or dead letter box, is a location used to secretly pass items between two people, without requiring them to meet.” – Wikipedia
Wondering why I’m referencing something that sounds like a 1950s spy technique on my chic and up-to-date blog? Because Aram Bartholl has created modern day “dead drops” throughout NYC.
So, if you see someone awkwardly leaning up against a wall, be aware that they might be partaking in secret file sharing. As someone mentioned in the comments section, you might want to bring a cable so you don’t break off the USB stick.
My only concern here is about viruses. What happens if someone is malicous and places something on here to infect any machine that gets attached to it? It’s great idea, but I won’t be running to NYC to plug in my computer! I’ll stick to writing my name on small pieces of paper…

Keeping My Ears Warm
I just returned from a quick bike ride. Being that it’s turning to fall, I bundled up a bit and added a sweatshirt to my usual biking attire. Well about halfway into my ride my ears were burning from being so cold. I wondered if there was a solution. Could I cover my ears without hindering my safety?
After a quick Google search, I came across the Bike Helmet Earmuffs which actually affix to the chin strap.
Now, I either need to learn to knit or find someone to make them for me. In case you knit, I’m allergic to wool 😉
Upside Downy Face
These are some of the most awkward portraits I’ve seen.
If you haven’t discerned, these are photos of people upside down! It’s called Upside Downy Face by Bruton Stroube. There are many more photographs, each unique/funny in their own way. It also seems like he offered a photobooth for this type of photography. Check them out!
Save It!
With wedding season upon us, I thought this would be a great video to share. Thankfully I only have 2 weddings this summer and they aren’t on the same weekend (but they are back to back). There are certain “traditions” when it comes to weddings. One of those is sending out invitations, and before that “Save the Dates”. A recent trend is the magnetic ones, since you’re likely to stick them on the fridge anywhere (yup, that’s where mine are).
However, Chris and Laurel have strayed away from the traditional paper-based saved the date (however they note that a “proper snail-mail invite” will be arriving soon.

The Wolf & The Pig
After watching some stop-motion animations recently at the Bentley Film Festival, I recalled this amazing stop-motion video that I believe @mada716 had sent over a while ago. I cannot wait to have some time and purpose to try something like this! I can only imagine the patience this took!

iPhone(s) Piano
OuiCestBon has taken the time to perform for us a beautiful song on the piano. However, instead of a Baby Grand, he’s using iPhones.

You’ll notice at the beginning he’s struggling with keeping all of the phones lit-up. If you watch his left hand it makes many mistakes, goes to show you a few things about the important of haptic feedback…

SUCK UK
The folks over at SUCK UK have some very cool stuff!
SwissMiss featured the Analog Digit Cake Molds. I wonder if it would be redundant if you used the numbered candles?
Another funny thing I found was this Dead Fred pen holder. I’m not sure if I would want to take my aggression out on the thing, people walking by might wonder. But I think it’s a very interesting way to store your pen so it’s always at the ready. I really like the blood trail in this image, though I’m not sure how maintenance would like that once I move out of my cube.
Handy Hoodie Ideas
I have been known to wear a hoodie for many days of my life! I may or may not even be wearing one as I write this. But the folks over at Conceptual Devices have come up with other things to do with hoodies besides wearing them. Check it out. Even more ideas after the jump.
