It’s Officially Winter in Boston

without comments

Well, today marks the first official day of winter in Boston, at least in my mind. Baseball is done for the year in Beantown. I saw a great game yesterday with the Sox beating the Yankees and also taking away their AL East crown. The only bad thing about that is that we didn’t get the crown ourselves. Another good thing happened, I won my Fantasy League for the 2nd year in a row. My brother also informed me that he wouldn’t be running The League next year, so I’m planning to take it over. Anywho, here are the results.

No Bobblin’ in Boston

without comments

Well, as we know, the Red Sox had a very tough year this year. This morning on the radio I heard this poem entitled “Ouch… A Poem For The Red Sox“. It almost made me cry.

Well, there’s another reason to cry in Beantown. The fact that we were not part of any bobblehead giveaways this year. Flip Flop Fly Ball has created an infographic showing we are the only MLB team to not participate in a contest with a Bobblehead Giveaway. Perhaps next year we can turn things around…

Michael Drowne Drafted in 28th Round by L.A. Dodgers

without comments

Great news this week! My little cousin, Mikey Drowne, was drafted by the L.A. Dodgers. I haven’t heard for sure if he’s accepted yet, but I hope things work out for him! They wanted him on a plane to Arizona – like – yesterday. UPDATE 9:08 AM: He did sign with them!  He’s going to Glendale, AZ for a few weeks and then he’ll be off to Ogden, UT to hopefully play for the Ogden Raptors!  Check out the view from homeplate at Lindquist Field:

Between the Legs Play

without comments

You’ve seen countless blooper and highlight reels from various baseball teams across the years. They’re the infamous between the legs, who’s got the ball? no one’s got the ball.?, and slip and falls. My favorite blooper of all time has to be the Jose Canseco home run assist off his head. Well, my dad showed me this amazing play made by Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox. And boy, this one might rank as my #1 amazing plays, it is certainly top 5.

Quote of the Day – April 5, 2010

without comments

In honor of the Sox win last night…

“This is your time, their time is done, it’s over. I’m sick and tired of hearin’ about what a great baseball team the Yankees have. Screw ‘em! This is your time!”

Baseball Visualizations

Came across a site that blends two of the things I love: baseball and visualizations. Flip Flop Fly Ball is a collection of baseball and sports visualizations.

Do you know which one is Fenway? Do you know any others?
